My name is Russ Burdick, aka grub, born Sept. 4/1974, and a former student at the University of Windsor, located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I was a part of the Materials And Surface Science Group at the University Of Windsor. After completing my honors Bachelor of Science in Physics with a Chemistry minor I spent a year taking math and computer science courses to strengthen my knowledge in this area. Following this I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and started my PhD at the University of Minnesota in the Scientific Computation program. Since that time I have changed from the PhD program to the MSc program, which I completed in August 2002.

After working at the University of Minnesota on various projects since I started graduate school I am finally going to be leaving. I have recently accepted a position at IBM's Toronto Software Lab working as a DB2 Kernel Developer. I started July 5/2004 and really enjoy working there.

I also have a small webpage in the Computer Science department that hosts my gamp page, my geowall howto page, my viewer page and my WallView page. It may someday end up with other information/software, but at this point I'd say it's more likely that I'll end up moving those software projects to my code page here.

I spend alot of time in front of a computer and connected to the internet. When I am online i can usually be found on irc in #bodyart on efnet, and more recently in #blackbox on irc.openprojects.net. In addition to this I follow the rec.arts.bodyart newsgroup and occasionally read rec.music.industrial and sci.crypt. I am an avid slashdot reader and I also keep my eye on several other sites on a daily basis, including Freshmeat, Ars Technica, and TheOneRing.net.

These days I don't seem to have the time to do nearly as much reading as I used to. Some of my favorite authors are Clive Barker, Anne Rice and Terry Brooks. I recently read Servant of the Bones by Anne Rice and Galilee by Clive Barker. As always, I have several more books waiting when those are done.

In the time that remains I try to relax and enjoy myself. I spend time playing my guitars, watching tv, renting movies, and spending time with my wife, Jenn Root.
